- Sinead, the first female CEO of an Irish unicorn, brings decades of global fintech leadership experience and will play a central role in supporting Aperture’s portfolio companies as they scale.
- The appointment is Aperture’s second senior hire this year, as the business builds a leading team of experts to offer strategy and GTM support to its startup portfolio.
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — 22nd April 2026 — Aperture Capital, a Swiss Venture Capital (VC) firm focused on early-growth fintech and AI infrastructure investing, is appointing Sinead Fitzmaurice, former CEO of TransferMate, as an Operating Partner.
Sinead was the first female CEO to scale an Irish tech company to unicorn status, and served as CFO and COO from incorporation and as CEO for six years until June last year. While at TransferMate, she led the company’s expansion into more than 200 markets, oversaw the company securing more than 100 regulatory licences globally and was instrumental in signing global partnerships with tier 1 institutions such as Wells Fargo, SAP, Barclays Bank, CoupaPay and Amazon.
As Operating Partner at Aperture Capital, Sinead will work hands-on with founders and management teams across strategy, go-to-market execution, hiring, and operational scaling. She will also leverage her extensive international network to unlock new growth opportunities for portfolio companies. In addition, she will contribute to investment due diligence and fund strategy, while taking an active role in corporate governance, including serving on the board of some of Aperture’s portfolio companies.
Sinead’s appointment marks another step in Aperture’s strategy to embed world-class operators in the business. The firm recently welcomed former Temenos CEO Max Chuard as a strategic investor and investment committee member. This reflects its ability to attract and deploy top-tier executive talent into its ecosystem.
The move also reflects Aperture’s growing commitment to the Irish market. Aperture has invested in several Irish businesses, such as Trustap, Paygentic, ALT21 and Kayna, and a quarter of all capital deployed to date has been into Ireland.
Established in 2019, Aperture Capital is an international VC that prides itself on its deep fintech domain expertise, with a team of fintech operators who support portfolio companies, particularly with Go-to-Market (GTM). The firm invests across B2B fintech, cybersecurity and embedded finance in companies leveraging AI through strong network effects and data moats. It has backed more than 20 companies to date and delivered strong returns, with an IRR on its venture investments of more than 40%1, and a notable exit through the sale of Metaco to Ripple in 2023 for USD $250 million.
Sinead Fitzmaurice, Operating Partner at Aperture Capital, said: “Aperture’s model is genuinely differentiated. The opportunity to work closely with ambitious founders and bring hands-on support across scaling, strategy, and execution is incredibly compelling. I’m excited to partner with the team and help build exceptional companies, while contributing to due diligence and governance.”
Ben Robinson, CEO of Aperture Capital, said: As an investment company, our advantage lies in our deep fintech knowledge and our strong working relationship with portfolio companies. To date, we’ve offered portfolio companies access to GTM resources and expertise that are proven to accelerate and de-risk their growth. Now, in addition, with the appointment of executives like Sinead, who scaled one of Europe’s most successful fintech companies, we’re offering expert-led, practical, execution-focused support and advice, which is a game-changer for early-stage businesses.
Sinead’s appointment underscores Aperture’s commitment to building an operator-led investment platform designed to deliver outsized outcomes for founders and investors alike.
